The first enemy of the game is a red-haired punk. Fast enough to move around, they pounce on you by rolling or running. He can use knives that they throw or iron bars with which they hit. Otherwise he can also give punches or jump kicks.

These strongmen dressed in green move slowly and never run. They use incendiary dynamites and more rarely (just at the beginning of level 4), a weapon with 2 spiked balls connected by "a rope" that he throws without warning (one cannot take this object). Otherwise he can also give punches or jump kicks.

The only girl in the game is a frail and weak character. Character moving quite slowly and who does not run. She sometimes uses a whip with a spiked ball at the end otherwise called flail. Otherwise she can also give punches, elbow strikes or back kicks.

The first base enemy a little less basic than the others appears at level 2 and comes out of a helicopter. We will then see him once in each level. Blue pants, white shirt, black glasses, the henchman of the Shadow Warriors is never armed. If he does not move quickly, these hits are. Several punches and kicks (including the jump kick) are part of his panoply.

Chin Taimei practices Boujutsu (a martial art with sticks). You will not meet him without, it's not weapons he loses so they are not usable. Beyond these stick strikes, "Chintai" masters Kung Fu. He will use a circular ground sweep as well as a somersault jump on his opponent.

The Ninja is a very fast enemy and the only base enemy that can cause difficulties. We only meet him in 2 levels. He rushes at you hands forward and sends you flying. Catching him in full run with the cyclone attack is quite simple. He tends to jump everywhere which is not too annoying in level 2 which is side-view but a bit more at 8 which has depth. He also throws shurikens (ninja stars) at ground level or while they are in the air. Finally, a knee strike attack or a jump kick (or spin) will often be too short and if he is stopped, he will stop you with a knife hit. In fact, he often stops at a certain distance from you. In that case, take a step in his direction before doing a cyclone attack (the best weapon against them because they cannot duck).

The first boss of the game (level 1) is a former wrestler. Imposing, he moves very slowly and can give punches or grab one of the Lee brothers by the head with one hand while hitting the belly with the other. During this attack, he is obviously very vulnerable if you play with 2 players. He has a magical side and can resurrect once so even if his body disappears and his helmet falls to the ground, do not let go of the controller.

A priori, the boss is Abore but he looks more like Oharra (O'Hara). I therefore put both names. He is inspired by Schwarzy (Arnold Schwarzenegger) apparently but it's more visible in the Arcade version. Short hair, boots and military pants, a somewhat yellowish tan all the same, Abore is clearly a boss even if we meet him for the first time as a mid-boss at level 4. He has 2 "slaps" and especially a very fast shoulder strike. Both will put you on the ground in a single blow.

Bolo looks very much like the Abobo from the original Double Dragon. He is often credited as Abobo so I put both names. He gives punches that he possibly chains and adds at times a "Lee throw". He also has a kick that sends you to the ground. This mountain of muscle indeed grabs you with 2 arms and throws you far behind him over his head.

This boss is met only once at the very end of level 8. It's the last enemy before the end boss. These doubles have many moves in common with our 2 heroes. They do not use the jumping knee strike (he has it but on the ground and without much power) nor the cyclone attack but knows however how to throw fireballs. He can also disappear and reappear "in you", attacking you from the inside. Quite resistant, they will eventually disappear into a black shadow after a few attacks.

Black shadows Warriors leader. No one knows where he comes from or even what his name is, but he is the head of the organization, the one who decided to kill Marian. He practices "Gensatsuken" (Phantom Murder Fist) supposed to be the opposite of the Lee brothers' style (Sosetsuken). This boss is in 2 parts with 2 different settings. At the beginning, we fight him at night with demonic eyes watching you then it ends in a church. Before being in the church. He can disappear. Besides that, he has a punch (several chained in fact) and a kick when you are near him. If you are "a little short" in a jump attack, he often uses an attack where he puts himself on his hands and pushes you with both feet. Not very powerful this attack pushes you very far. Finally his flying whirlwind attack with arms spread will take away more than 3 life squares and is really the one to avoid. He can also use it on the spot without jumping but it will be twice as less powerful. An attack that works well against him is the simple kick, especially when he is invisible. It must be done non-stop. It even stops the attack that hurts a lot. In addition, if he sends you to the ground, you will often have him with an uppercut when rising. He tends to avoid your blows by doing handsprings. You then sort of pass through him.

More information on Billy and Jimmy's moves in the tutorial
Billy is the hero of the game when playing alone. He started martial arts very early and became a Sou-Setsu-Ken master at age 20. He has just defeated the black warriors gang and is back to avenge the death of his girlfriend, Marian, killed by the Shadows Warriors. One cannot say the scenario isn't hyper researched :D.
Jimmy is the other half of the Double Dragons. He is Billy's older brother. Despite their rivalries, he allies again with his brother to avenge Marian's death.

Marian is Billy's girlfriend. Saved in the previous episode when the black warriors had kidnapped her, she dies in the introduction of Double Dragon II. It's one of the causes of the rivalry between Billy and Jimmy.
