Kokiri Village

Mido

A Kokiri who doesn't like you very much at the beginning of the game. The "Great Mido" defends Saria and the Deku Tree because deep down, he's a good guy.

The Deku Tree Sprout

You meet him when you finish the Forest Temple. Later, he will be as big and wise as the Deku Tree, but for now, he still has a bit of a lisp.

Hyrule Field

The Marathon Man

This strange fellow runs across the field. When you are young, you will sell him the Bunny Hood, which makes him run super fast. As an adult, he is in the tent in Gerudo Valley and proposes a race against him to the Kokiri Forest.

Hyrule Market

The Poe Collector

This strange guy buys Poes from adult Link and eventually gives him a bottle.

Note that the secondary characters mentioned here live in Kakariko when Link becomes an adult.

The Dog Lady

This lady is looking for her dog (Richard) who has disappeared. She will give you a Piece of Heart.

The Happy Mask Salesman

The merchant from the Mask Shop lends you masks so that you can sell them.

Hyrule Castle

The Great Fairy of Magic

This fairy will give you Din's Fire in the cave in the castle courtyard. She also teaches you Farore's Wind at Zora's Fountain and Nayru's Love in the Desert.

Lon Lon Ranch

Ingo

Ingo works for Talon when you are young. Once Ganondorf is in power, he becomes the head of the ranch. He loses his mind when you steal Epona from him.

Talon

Talon is the owner of Lon Lon Ranch when you are young. He spends his days resting. When Ingo takes over the ranch, he goes to sleep in Kakariko.

Malon

Malon is Talon's daughter; she will teach you Epona's Song.

Lost Woods

Skull Kid

He will give you a Piece of Heart when you play Saria's Song for him. He will also buy your Skull Mask.

Kakariko Village

The Cucco Lady

She asks you to bring back her Cuccos and will thank you by giving you a bottle.

The Windmill "Musician"

This strange character plays the music box in the windmill. He will teach you the Song of Storms and will be angry when you make it rain in his windmill by playing it.

Grog (The Master Craftsman's Son)

He laments at the foot of the tree at the village entrance when Link is an adult. You will also meet him in the Lost Woods where he gives you a mushroom.

Death Mountain Trail Guard

He guards the entrance to Death Mountain Trail; he asks you to find a fashionable mask for his son.

Kakariko Village Graveyard

Dampé

Dampé is the gravedigger of the cemetery. Alive or dead, you will encounter him often.

The Little Boy

This little boy is a fan of Dampé. He will buy the Spooky Mask from you to look like him. He prevents you from pulling the graves.

Death Mountain Trail

Biggoron

The best blacksmith in the world will forge the Biggoron Sword for you.

The "Shady" Goron

His job is to provide shade for the Bomb Flowers that will help you clear the entrance to Dodongo's Cavern.

The Great Fairy of Power

She teaches you the Spin Attack at the very top of Death Mountain Trail.

Death Mountain Crater

The Great Fairy of Wisdom

She doubles your magic capacity.

Goron City

Link

This little Goron is Darunia's son and carries your name.

Zora's River

The Bean Seller

This big guy who is always eating sells Magic Beans to Link. He only has 10, but that's enough to plant them everywhere. Be careful, prices rise quickly.

Lake Hylia

Pierre

Pierre can remember super long melodies, which is totally useless. However, he can come to help you when you play the Scarecrow's Song that you taught to his twin.

Bonooru

Unlike Pierre, Bonooru can only remember a small music score. That said, this music will allow you to call his brother Pierre to the rescue.

The Scientist

This scientist will give you a Piece of Heart when you touch the bottom of the water in his lab. He also transforms an Eyeball Frog into Super Eye Drops.

The Fishing Hole Man

The owner of the fishing pond will make you win lots of things, including the Golden Scale. He will have lost his hair by the time you grow up.

Zora's Fountain

Jabu-Jabu

The great Jabu-Jabu is the guardian deity of the Zoras. Young Link must enter his body to deliver Princess Ruto.

Zora's Domain

King Zora

He is, as his name suggests, the king of the Zoras; he is very large and guards access to Zora's Fountain where Jabu-Jabu is located.

The Diving Game Organizer

This Zora organizes the diving game where Link wins the Silver Scale.

Gerudo Valley

The Master Craftsman

When Link is young, he is building a house in Kakariko Village. As an adult, he rebuilds the bridge in Gerudo Valley for you when you have saved his workers. He will also give you a broken sword in exchange for the Poacher's Saw.

Gerudo's Fortress

The Fortress Guard

Nabooru entrusted her with the guard of the fortress. Impressed by your strength and speed, she gives you the Gerudo Membership Card.

Haunted Wasteland

The Poe Guide

He will allow you to cross the desert. Follow him and do not lose sight of him.
