Castlevania 1 on Nes - The 4 Characters: Trevor, Grant, Sypha and Alucard

Trevor Belmont The hero of this adventure, grandfather of Simon, the main character of the first 2 episodes on NES. He possesses a whip and can use a few sub-weapons.

• The knife : Fast, not very powerful, goes straight to the edge of the screen, average.
• The holy water : Falls and burns. Minimal range, slows down the enemy so you can whip them.
• The axe : Often better than the previous two, attacks in a semi-circle. Useful when the enemy is in the air.
• The boomerang : Follows a straight trajectory and returns. Quite slow but powerful, often the best weapon and very effective against bosses, especially with the double or triple shot.

Sypha Velnumdes (Belnades) A vampire hunter equipped with a staff that is less effective than Trevor's whip. Her sub-weapons, however, are extremely effective. It is easiest to finish the game with her because her attacks are powerful against bosses.

• The fire : Very powerful attack in front of the hero, limited range.
• The ice : Attacks all around the hero. Ineffective against bosses, it will freeze everything else (rivers, fireballs...). You can kill ice statues in one hit thanks to the staff.
• The 3 orbs : Homing attack, practical, powerful.

Grant Danusty A small, nimble, and very maneuverable character; he climbs walls, ceilings, and jumps very high. All this allows you to avoid many fights in certain levels. His weapons are the knife () and the axe () (see Trevor).

Alucard For me, the least good of the secondary characters; his weapon can fire in three directions but is not very powerful and cannot be used on stairs. Moreover, he has no sub-weapon. His only asset is that he can fly, which is very practical when you miss a jump. Indeed, if a monster pushes you into a hole with Trevor, press "select", then very quickly "down" and "A" when you have Alucard. You will save a life this way.
