Leaving your home, you see Saria who is surprised and happy that you finally have a fairy. She seems very attached to you and decides to wait for you while you go to see the Great Deku Tree. Unfortunately, Mido blocks your path to the Deku Tree. You need to find a sword and a shield.

For the sword, you must climb up in front of Mido's house and go through the small passage behind the fences (press "A" when "enter" is displayed). Then, search the small area where you arrive (watch out for the boulder, wait for it to pass and follow it). You will find rupees and a large chest. Dive inside to find the Kokiri Sword.

For the Deku Shield, you just need to earn 40 rupees and go to the shop (the house with the red roof). Rupees are found almost everywhere. Cut the bushes, search the tall grass, go on the roofs, break jars in people's houses, open chests at Mido's, cross the river by jumping from block to block without falling, explore the Kokiri sword mini "labyrinth"... Check out the video if you have any trouble.

Talk to the people in the village; they will give you plenty of advice, explain the buttons, how to handle Link, the fairy, the sword... Visit houses that might contain hearts, money, or maybe other cool things.

When you're finished, go back to see Mido who will let you through (if you haven't forgotten to equip yourself). Kill the carnivorous plants to obtain Deku Sticks (I suggest stocking up on sticks by killing many plants). Follow the path to reach the Great Deku Tree.

The Great Deku Tree is worried; he knows you've been having horrible nightmares for some time. He explains that dark forces are growing and that he is under a curse. The tree needs you to free him. Enter his mouth to destroy the evil that has taken hold of him.
