Double Dragon 2 walkthrough (Nes): Mission 5 - Forest of death

The fifth level is simply titled: Forest of Death. Where has this path led us? We have no choice but to move forward in this direction toward certain death. "Where does this path lead us ? We've got no choice but to go on though this is the way to certain death.". A very pleasant level in the forest among trees, a river, and large vines that will conclude with a train (don't necessarily look for logic in the sequence of locations in Double Dragon II, it's surely a parallel world).

The adventure begins with whip-wielding girls, then a guy in green all alone guarding a ladder. Don't fall to the right after this guy (and don't miss the ladder) because you will lose a life.

Girls love nature, as everyone knows. Smack them in the face anyway and cross the river. To do this, start by positioning yourself against the wall supporting the ladder and go to the right without changing your height. You need to jump at the edge of the bank, then at the edge of the second piece of the first log, then pretty much anywhere on the second. The third one is quite large; you should jump between the second and third parts (one foot on each is a good idea). Finally, you must jump from the very end of the last one.

The guys in green love the forest (hence their clothes). Beat them and climb the vines. At the top, the same types will be waiting for you with some kind of incendiary dynamite. Be careful not to fall into the hole on the left. Also, be careful not to finish the fight too close to the door.

With Abobo coming out of the door, it's better not to fight to his right if you're too close to the edge because one of his attacks consists of throwing you far behind him. That said, as often, it's also the fastest way to defeat him since you can push him into the hole. Beat him then do the same with his twin brother. Then go right for your first fight with the green Karate guys (since that's the theme of the level). Putting them out of action will lead you to the "boss."

A train makes its appearance. To stop it, you'll need to climb to its top. To do this, you'll need to move in order from the first wheel (conveyor belt) to the second. Then, you'll have to climb onto the first turbine then the second to finally reach the top. Note that I'm not using the term "jump" because the turbine blows hot air that will make you fall as if you took a hit, and with a bit of luck, you'll be able to climb up this way. The train makes incessant back-and-forth trips, so you have to jump on the wheels while it's moving toward you. Then, the best method is surely to go to the right. The bottom turbine blows, then the middle one, then the top one, and so on. Between the top and the bottom one, you have time to climb up and not get caught. it's a bit nicer than in my pictures ;).

To finish the level properly, a whole bunch of guys come out of the locomotive. The guys in green (mandatory even if the camouflage works less well on a train). The guys with black sunglasses and the big yellowish guy.

After a quick thrashing, you can take control of the train and head toward Level 6.
