Zelda Ocarina Of Time on N64 - The Shadow Temple

In this level, you will need to use the Lens of Truth (oeil de vérité) very often to see hidden doors (1). Be careful to deactivate it when you no longer need it because it drains magic. This object distinguishes truth from falsehood and will be very useful even if it is not indispensable because you can cross false walls without having looked at them with the monocle.

Advance to the hole and use the Hookshot (grappin), then cross the wall. Go to the left corner of the room and cross a wall again (2), then take the door. Cross the wall in front of you, then the one on the right, and pass through the door. Eliminate the Readead (effroi) and the 2 bats to obtain the map which will allow you not to forget any passages hidden by false walls. Exit the room and pass the wall on the right (3), then go to the end right of the square room to take the door behind the wall.

Kill the Dead Hand (poignant) to obtain the Hover Boots (bottes des Airs) and return to the large statue room (first room). In this room, use the Lens of Truth to realize that only one of the skulls planted on the stakes is real (1). Push the statue so that it looks at this skull (2) and the door on the other side of the hole will open. Put on your Hover Boots and cross the hole (3) (take a little momentum and run straight towards the door).

Go down and pass the right door on the other side of the wall (be careful, if you want to kill the Beamos (sentinelle), you will need 2 bombs). Kill the mummies (Gibdos), take the compass, go back out and take the door opposite. In this room, you will need to collect 5 silver rupees to open a gate. To do this, just pay attention to the spinning blade and duck with R when it arrives. Only the rupee in the North-West corner is not on the ground and you will have to use the Hookshot to get it (1) (be quick at aiming). The gate opens, take the small key, exit the room and blow up the left wall then pass the door. You find yourself in a small corridor that goes down. Watch out for the Skulltulas falling from the ceiling (kill them with the Hookshot (2)) and the guillotines and everything should be fine. Before crossing the next room, drop the Wallmaster (clapoir) from the ceiling by spinning at the beginning of the room and kill it before it goes back up (3).

Cross the room, kill the Stalfos (1) and go West using the Hover Boots (to the East, there is a Skulltula). You must "jump" on the platform when it is down and jump off the platform when it is up (leave when it is in the middle of the climb). Kill the Beamos (2) and take all the silver rupees to open the door. Follow the corridor; you arrive in a room where you can see a block in the wall thanks to the Lens of Truth (3).

Pull the block from the wall and push it under the spikes. Stop pushing at the point where the block will block the 2 squares of spikes (1). Then go around the block (take the Skulltula on the way) and pull the block until the end (2). Then climb on the block then on the left wall. Cross over the spikes to activate the switch (3) and cross back to go take the small key in the corner of the room. Then exit the room to go to the large room.

Go through the narrow passage and use your monocle to see the platforms (1) and reach the door at the other end of the room. Use your monocle, and after killing the Readeads, take all the rupees in the room using the Hookshot targets (2). Take the door that opened then climb on top of the skull. Take a Bomb Flower (chou-péteur) and throw it into the skull (3) to obtain a small key (and a skulltula). Exit the room killing all the Keese (saigneurs) and use your Hookshot (2) to take the door located high up on the platform.

You arrive in corridors where fans are blowing. To pass quietly, put on your Iron Boots (bottes de plomb) until the hole. Once at the hole, put on your Hover Boots and dash over the hole as soon as the fan opposite has stopped blowing. Once on the other side, quickly put your Iron Boots back on so as not to be pushed into the hole. Keep your Iron Boots on to cross the fan bridge without trouble and use your bow to kill the eye when it opens to fire. At the last fan, there is normally a passage (monocle), stop and look at the fan. As soon as it stops, put on your Hover Boots and look at the passage. When you feel the wind at your back, run to reach the passage without problem. Pass the door.

Kill the Gibdos then use a bomb to blow up the small mound (1) which is on the right when you enter. Use your monocle to see the chest that was underneath and take the small key inside. Pass the door at the end to find yourself in a huge room with a boat. Pull the block on the left to the path traced on the ground, detach it from the wall by pulling it (2) then push it under the ladder. Climb on it and take the ladder (at the top, if you play the Scarecrow's Song, you will find a Skulltula). Jump on the boat and stand on the Triforce symbol to play Zelda's Lullaby (3).

The boat sails and 2 Stalfos attack you. Try to kill them but if you reach the end of the trip, jump onto the shore on the port side (1) so as not to sink into the abyss. Go take the door at the end of the dock to arrive in a room where you will have to use the monocle to see the walls. Avoid the hands to take the door to the North (2). You arrive in a room where spiked boards try to trap you. Use Din's Fire (feu de Din) to burn them (3) and take the Boss Key then exit.

Take the door to the South and use your monocle to see the Floormaster (Grossbaffe) and kill it (1). Take the small key and return to the dock (by taking the last door (to the west), you will find a Skulltula). Go to the end of the dock and shoot at the Bomb Flowers (2) (opposite the 2 pots) to create a makeshift bridge. Cross it then take the door (if you need heart, play the Song of Time first then the Scarecrow's Song). Use your Lens of Truth and your boots to cross this last room (3) and open the boss door.

The Shadow Temple - Boss: Bongo Bongo, Phantom Shadow Beast Play music

You arrive in a small room with a hole. Jump in to land on a giant drum where the boss of the Shadow Temple plays: Bongo Bongo, Phantom Shadow Beast.

Beating him is quite simple, first block his 2 hands thanks to your bow and Z targeting. Then use your monocle to aim at the boss and send an arrow into the sensitive parts. The monster then crashes onto the drum. Take the opportunity to strike him with your sword (jump attack preferably) by getting very close to him. Bongo Bongo has 3 attacks in his arsenal:

  1. He attacks you fist forward, run to avoid it.
  2. He moves both hands back to clap (he would be very strong at Donkey Konga) and you must quickly move back or forward.
  3. He raises a hand and it is better to shoot it quickly before it grabs you.

In all cases, if you attack his hands quickly each time, you won't risk much.

Bongo Bongo is defeated and faints in horrible suffering. After taking the heart, you teleport once again to the Chamber of Sages. Impa turns out to be the Sage of Shadow and explains to you that Ganon attacked Hyrule 7 years ago and that she managed to put Princess Zelda in a safe place. Now, Impa must stay at the sanctuary. She gives you the Shadow Medallion and tells you that you will have to protect Zelda who will find you soon and explain everything.

You must now continue the adventure. You can also retrieve my save file (1Ko) made with project64, which should be copied into the "Save" folder before launching the game.
