There are 3 endings. In all 3 endings, we see Dracula's grave. The dates (1431 - 1476) are the probable dates of Vlad III Tepes (the Impaler), born according to legend in Transylvania. One of his nicknames, Draculea (meaning "son of the dragon"), was taken by Bram Stoker to name the character of his novel. I'll let you search the Internet if you want more information on the subject.
If you finish (if you enter Castlevania) on day 7 until 11:59 p.m. or before, you will see the good ending. I tested it for you and on day 8 at midnight, it's too late (you will have the average ending). Here is what this good ending tells.
Not much to add to this ending. It's short, it's a bit nonsensical, but actually, we don't really care. We see a hand coming out of the grave in the last seconds of the video. A good old technique to be able to prepare a sequel. The sequel will indeed take place, but in fact, it's Trevor Belmont who will be the hero and his story is about 200 years earlier. If you haven't already, I advise you to try the excellent Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse.

If you enter the ruins of Castlevania between day 8 at 00:00 and day 14 at 11:59 p.m., you will see the average ending.
It is in this magnificent sun-drenched setting that you learn of Simon's death from his injuries. The hero is dead but Transylvania is saved and at least, Dracula doesn't come out of his grave as in the "good ending".

If you enter the ruins of Castlevania starting from day 15 at 00:00, you will see the worst ending.
Another ending, another atmosphere. This time, it's in black and white that the image appears. Simon is surely already dead. Basically, it doesn't change much compared to the "average" ending in principle.

Note that none of the 3 endings is followed by any credit sequence. The one from Castlevania 1 was fanciful, the one from 2 is non-existent (at least in European version). So, I played the Japanese version and here we go again (this time, I won't tell you how to get the different endings).
The Japanese version runs on Famicom Disk System. They didn't have codes but you could save. There are also loading times... The game is in Japanese except for the ending which is in English. Note that Simon takes 2 "m"s. At the end, the game toasts to your X days of battle.
The ending looks a lot like the western version.

Return of the fanciful credit but in another genre.
