Donkey Kong on Nes: The guide / walkthrough
This Nes version of Donkey Kong really left a bitter taste in my mouth. As a true Nintendo fan, I can obviously only respect this mythical game, but at the same time, the Nes version is so incomplete that I can't even recommend it to you. While the "classics" version saves the day because it also contains Donkey Kong Jr., the base version has too many flaws. When you think about it, the game came out on Famicom in July '83, which was "only" 2 years after the arcade version and on a home machine. But in the West, due to the huge delay at the time between Japan and Europe, the game arrived in 1986 (less than a year before Super Mario Bros. in Europe). Let's not overlook its impact, Donkey Kong is for many the founding myth of the platformer genre (though often attributed to Space Panic), but the problem is this specific version! No screens between levels (how High you can get), no small animation of Donkey grabbing Pauline again between each level, but above all, no level 2 (50m, the one with the conveyor belts). I assume it was a technical limitation, but honestly... If you want to step into the shoes of Jump Man (who would become Mario) to save "the girl" (Pauline) from the "clutches" of Donkey Kong (who would become Cranky Kong ;)), don't get this version. I'm not saying you won't like it because the core game is there, the gameplay that made it strong is fully present, but without Donkey shaking the level to create the slope and other things I mentioned before, it's just less cool. In any case, let's thank Shigeru Miyamoto and the late Gunpei Yokoi once again for this game that laid the foundations of the platformer genre and that you owe it to yourself to try (and finish, it takes less than 5 minutes).

The complete guide / walkthrough of Donkey Kong Nes

This guide doesn't contain a whole lot since Donkey Kong is a 1981 Arcade game, and while one could write pages of anecdotes, talk about the cabinet, and everything the game inspired... This is primarily a walkthrough site, and for now, I'm leaving all that to other sites that do it very well. So, apart from this home page, in this guide you will find: a page on the game's intro, the \"walkthrough\" of level 1, the \"walkthrough\" of level 2, the \"walkthrough\" of level 3, a page on the ending of the game and finally a page grouping all the videos I made about the game to show various \"versions\" of the levels on Nes (Game A, Game B, and second loop Game B).
