Shield: Temporarily increases Link's life level. Cuts enemy attack damage in half. This spell is most useful while Link's level is low.

You will find this spell in Rauru Town. Once used, Link will only lose half his normal life points after taking a hit until you change screens.

Fairy

Fairy: Gives you the ability to fly to escape enemies during combat on difficult terrain like steep cliffs.

Fire

Fire: When you press this button, you shoot a fireball along with your sword slash using the B button. Surely there are some enemies who hate fire.

Reflect

Reflect: A magical shield upon which palace magicians' spells rebound. Normally, shields only protect against magic power.

You will find this spell in Darunia Town. Once cast, Link will be able to deflect specific attacks (especially the ghost attacks in the Maze Palace). Additionally, his shield will stop attacks that previously would have passed right through him.

Spell

Spell: Allows you to cast spells. Its power isn't very well known, but it is said that enemies tremble with fear.

You will find this spell in New Kasuto Town. It transforms fairly strong enemies into relatively weak ones.

Thunder

Thunder: The most powerful of the eight magics, thunder can disable every enemy on the screen. However, Link must be very powerful to use it.

Downward Thrust

This technique is taught to you by a swordsman in Mido town. You will find him on top of the church; use Jump to get up there. With the downward thrust, you can hit enemies that were previously too low to reach.

Upward Thrust

This technique is taught to you by a swordsman in Darunia town. You will find him in the first house of the second section. Use Jump to climb onto the roof, then jump from roof to roof and enter through the chimney. With the upward thrust, you can hit any monster that was too high up for a normal jump and sword slash to reach.
