After a deadly battle, Link succeeded in seizing the Triforce and freeing Princess Zelda. However, not everything had been said. Several months have passed since that time.
The realm of Hyrule was threatened with ruin. The hatred Ganon had in his heart had been so great that it gave birth to disorder and chaos throughout the kingdom. Even after Ganon's fall, some of his allies decided to stay and wait for his return.
The only way to bring Ganon back to life was to shed the blood of Link - the brave young man who had defeated the prince of darkness. Ganon could be revived if Link were sacrificed and his blood shed upon the ashes.
Meanwhile, Link remained in the small kingdom of Hyrule and participated in its restoration. But his future seemed uncertain. One day, as he approached his 16th birthday, a strange mark appeared on the back of his hand. It was the mark of the kingdom's emblem. Worried, Link consulted Impa, Zelda's nurse. When she saw this mark, Impa was shaken and frightened.
But she quickly regained her composure and led Link to the North Palace. In this palace, there was a door that was nicknamed "the door that does not open". Only the descendants of Impa's family knew how to open it. Impa took Link's left hand and pressed it against the door. A sound of a lock turning was heard, the door opened slowly creaking and Link saw, lying on the table in the middle of the room, a very beautiful young woman.
"It is here that Princess Zelda rests," said Impa in a calm voice.
"The time has come to tell you the legend of Zelda which is passed down from generation to generation in the kingdom.
A long time ago, before Hyrule was divided, a powerful ruler maintained peace thanks to the Triforce.
Unfortunately, this king was only a human and he died. The prince, his son, should have then ascended to the throne,
but he only received a part of the Triforce as an inheritance. The prince searched everywhere for the missing pieces but in vain.
That was when a wizard who had been a confidant of the king brought him surprising news. Before dying,
the king had only spoken of the Triforce to the prince's younger sister, Princess Zelda.
The prince immediately questioned the princess but she refused to say anything. The wizard then questioned her,
threatening to cast a spell on her if she refused to speak. But, always, she said nothing. In his anger,
the wizard began to recite the magic words that would plunge her into an eternal sleep. The prince,
dismayed, tried to stop him but the wizard pushed him away. When he had finished,
Princess Zelda collapsed on the floor and sank into a sleep from which it is possible she may never wake.
The wizard collapsed at the same moment, and breathed his last. In his grief, the prince had the princess placed in this chamber.
He kept the hope that she would one day return to herself. And to prevent this tragedy from falling into oblivion,
he ordered that all newborn females of the royal family bear the name Zelda.
On a pedestal near the table where Princess Zelda lay sleeping, Impa took six crystals and a parchment scroll bearing
the royal emblem and handed them to Link. For generations, my family has kept these objects which can only be
revealed on the day of the coming of a great king. These manuscripts are written in an ancient character that
no one understands. Only the one who possesses the mark can read them. It is said that the key to the Triforce is hidden therein.
The time has come for you to read them. Link looked at the manuscripts with skepticism, but, surprise! Although he had never seen these characters,
he noticed that he could read them as if they were speaking to him."
Here is what was written:
"To you who will possess the future Triforce, I transmit its secrets.
There are three kinds of Triforces: Power, Wisdom and Courage. When all three are reunited, the Triforce will reach its full power.
I have left Power and Wisdom in the kingdom, but Courage is in a secret place. The Triforce is destined only for the most worthy. He must be strong and his thoughts must be pure.
He must also possess a certain innate quality. In all my life, I have never met such a person.
It is for this reason that I decided to cast a spell on the whole kingdom of Hyrule.
A mark will appear on the young man who will be qualified; he will have been raised in the best traditions, have acquired much experience and reached a certain age.
But what will happen if someone seizes the Triforce before him? Put to the service of evil, it is very dangerous.
The Triforce of Courage is hidden in the Grand Palace, located in the Valley of Death on the largest island of Hyrule.
However, to reach it, you will first have to defeat the guardians and suppress the "paralyzing force".
When you have triumphed over the guardians, which I created to prevent enemies from invading the six palaces of Hyrule, place a crystal on the forehead of the statue you have found.
When you have placed crystals on all the statues of the six palaces, the "paralyzing force" that protects the Valley of Death will be suppressed and you will be able to penetrate the grand palace.
There, you will have to fight the last guardian. You can only obtain the Triforce by triumphing over this guardian.
There is nothing to fear. You are destined to take back the Triforce. You are the only hope of Hyrule. "
His reading finished, Link slowly lifted his eyes. Impa implored him: "the spell that holds Princess Zelda will certainly be broken when the Triforce is used. Link, you must reunite the Triforce and save the princess. And restore peace to the kingdom of Hyrule."
Link agreed with a nod and took a long look at the princess before leaving.
Then, with a magic sword in his left hand and a magic shield in his right, he undertook his long solitary journey. Meanwhile, Ganon's allies were gathering new armies from the World of Depths and plotting the return of the evil Ganon.
After the destruction of Ganon, Impa told Link that a sleep spell had been cast on Princess Zelda. She will only wake up with the power of the 3 Triforces sealed in a Palace of Hyrule. To break the seal, the crystals must be placed on the 6 statues placed in 6 well-guarded palaces. Link is going to start the most adventurous quest that has ever been known.
You are Link and you must wake the princess from her eternal sleep. The adventure begins...
