To start, follow the duct taking the first left and drop down into the toilets. Leave the toilets, go down the stairs and turn around to the left to open the door. Kill the guard and take the access card, then turn around and open the metal door. Kill the guards and activate the console. Go out and turn left into the corridor. Grab the armor on the crates then immediately left and go through the door then the next one. Three guards will shoot at you. Kill them and go through the next 2 doors. Open the door ahead and clear the room then activate the console on the left. Behind the glass, you'll see the door open. Go back out and go through that door to enter the laboratory.

Once in the laboratory, climb the stairs and follow the path to reach a large room with big tanks. Go down the stairs and talk to Alec Trevelyan (Agent 006). If you wait a little, the alarm goes off and Ourumov arrives with guards. You'll then see the general (actually a colonel at the time) kill Agent 006. It's not recommended to wait, because once Trevelyan is dead, you'll become the target instead.

While you're talking with Alec, you can place 5 mines between each pair of tanks. If positioned well, 2 are enough — place them on the second and fourth column facing inward, toward the 2 tanks at each edge (or on the ground in the middle). It's quite precise, but with 3, adding one in the middle, you'll be safe. Then trigger them all with your watch (note that pressing A and B at the same time also triggers the "remote mines", but that's mostly handy in multiplayer since it's much less stylish). Note that it's also possible to destroy these big canisters by shooting them (you need to keep at it a bit). You'll need to leave the area without delay, because after a while the green gas spreads through the whole level, slowly but surely draining your life. Be careful not to kill Alec, or you'll fail objective B even if it was already completed.

No more than 2 scientists must die. On the third death, the mission will fail. That normally leaves a bit of margin.
