1 - Big Bob-Omb on the Summit

King Bob-omb is right at the top of the level; follow the path that spirals up around the hill. Get behind him to lift his "royal behind" and throw him to the ground (not off the edge). Repeat this three times to win the first star.

2 - Footrace with Koopa the Quick

Koopa the Quick is waiting at the start of the level and challenges you to a race to the top. Take the flower warp after the bridge, then the one on the mountain. You'll win the race easily — this turtle takes over a minute.

3 - Shoot to the Island in the Sky

For this star, first talk to the pink Bob-omb at the start. Then go get the cannon located beneath the floating island (inside a large grey block past the bridge) and aim as shown in image 2. The star is inside the orange block.

4 - Find the 8 Red Coins

5 - Mario Wings to the Sky

Even though this star can be done without the cap, I recommend not attempting it until you have the Wing Cap. Head to the floating island, grab the cap from the red block, and hop into the cannon in the hole. First, aim as shown in the second image. The goal is to collect the 5 coins at the center of the 5 rings of coins floating in the air. You'll likely need to grab the cap again in the middle to get all 5 coins. The middle coins can be seen from far away, but the ring only appears once you're closer. The star appears near the poles where there are two red coins.

6 - Behind Chain Chomp's Gate

The last star is inside Chomp's cage. You need to free him by performing 3 ground pounds on the post he's chained to. Chomp will then smash through the bars of his cage and leave. You can then calmly grab the star.
