Super Mario 64 on N64 - Level 8: Shifting Sand Land - Coins and overview
Level Stars
Overview
- You can avoid the big moving metal blocks by working out which tile the empty side will land on.
- There is a teleporter between the oasis tree and the end of the concrete path.
- A bird steals your nice cap near the oasis. If you don't get it back, Mario won't have one anymore even after leaving the level. You can get it back by touching the vulture.
- The pink Bob-omb is near the oasis. He opens the cannon at the end of the concrete path for you.
- There is a teleporter in the pyramid that apparently only works one way. It is at the top of a vertical pole and leads to a grating with a 1-Up above it and coins below it.
- Tornadoes will send Mario flying high into the sky. He can travel quite far thanks to them because he comes down slowly by doing the helicopter.
The 8 Red Coins
All the red coins are outside the pyramid.
- Next to the start, toward the left.
- Under the concrete structure in a big crate.
- On the concrete path.
- Behind the concrete path in a pool.
- In the air near the first pillar (you can use the cannon).
- In the air near the second pillar.
- In the air near the third pillar.
- In the air near the fourth pillar.
The star appears on the concrete structure.
Bonus Star: 100+ Coins
You can find more than 50 coins outside by killing the cacti, blowing up the crates, killing the Shy Guys and collecting the red coins.
Inside the pyramid, there is a blue button to the left of the entrance that makes 3 blue coins appear. Then you just follow the path, killing the creatures and collecting coins to reach 100 coins.
There are 72 coins outside and 62 inside.
